Madison Beer debuted the bewitching music video for her vengeful track “Hurts Like Hell” on Wednesday (Nov. 14). Matching the dark-pop song’s sinister vibe, the “Hell” video features Beer practicing her witch-like powers, taking revenge on an abusive man. After Beer magically appears at his bedside with a knife, an all-out witch hunt ensues that eventually builds to the video’s chilling twist ending.
The 19-year-old also co-wrote the treatment for the video and executive produced it, working alongside director Mike Harris. “I had such a clear vision of what I wanted to do for this video,” Beer said in a release. “I was inspired by witchcraft and felt that it perfectly fit with the theme of the song, which is about teaching someone a lesson.”
The “Hurts Like Hell” video also features an appearance by the Migos’ Offset, who raps a verse in the song. “I’m so happy Offset was involved in this project and was able to bring such an incredible energy to the video,” Beer said.
“Hurts Like Hell,” co-written by Charli XCX, follows Beer’s release of her debut EP, As She Pleases, earlier this year.
