Madison Beer was just 13-years-old when she shot to fame in 2012. Justin Bieber, who had 25 million Twitter followers at the time, tweeted Beer’s cover of Etta James’s At Last. And before she knew it, Madison's name was everywhere.

“I’ll forever by grateful to Justin,” Beer tells GLAMOUR. “I was just chilling at home [in Long Island, New York] when my friend text me the news. There are no words to explain how it felt to see my name trending, and that my idol had given me that validation. It was just amazing.”

Six years later, and Madison Beer is a 19-year-old force to be reckoned with. She has 10.7 million Instagram followers, is signed to the same label as Bieber, has walked the Dolce & Gabbana catwalk, and released her first studio EP As She Pleases in February. And now, she can add ‘designer’ to her super-long list of credentials, as her own 63-piece capsule collection for Missguided launches today. It’s described as ‘the ultimate collection for the girl who knows what she wants and does how she pleases’. If you’re anything like us, you’re going to want every single item.

“I didn’t let anybody tell me what to do”

“My collection with Missguided is all about doing you – it was completely my process, I designed the whole thing and didn’t let anybody make decisions for me. I’m creative in my own right, and I wanted the collection to reflect that. The clothes are very much based on my daily wear, and are very versatile as they can be dressed up or down. It’s the first time I’ve designed and I definitely want to do it again.”

“I had to learn to start again”

“Because I was so young when Justin tweeted my video, it felt like everything changed really quickly. It was crazy, I packed up my life and moved almost straight away. I had to re-start in a sense. But I wouldn’t change any of it for a second.”

“Men have it easier than women in almost every sense”

“There was a time in my career when I felt like I wasn’t being true to myself. I was being moulded into an artist I wasn't, and I knew I had to do everything I wanted to do. I think that's an issue a lot of women face, and men do have it easier in a lot of ways. But it just pushes me to do my best – we should all be equal, and I want to work my hardest to prove that."

“I want to show other girls that you can be whoever you want to be”

"The worst thing any of us can do for our self-esteem is compare ourselves to others, and that's especially true of women. I do feel a pressure in this industry to be 'beautiful', but luckily I think we live in a time where the definition of 'beautiful' is changing. The most beautiful people are those who are truly themselves, and that's what I want to show my fans. On social media, I'm comfortable posting anything I want to, because I just want to be as real with my fans as possible. It's important to show girls that being who you are is OK – you've got to be true to you. That's why movements such as Body Positivity are so important, and I'm so happy to see people coming together to celebrate it."

“My number one beauty tip just involves soap and water”

"I'm obsessed with make-up, but my top tip doesn't actually involve any products. Beauty starts with glowing skin, and the way to ruin it is with dirty, clogged make-up brushes. I try to wash all my brushes every week, just using soap and warm water for a gentle clean. If I leave it too long without cleaning them I really notice the difference on my skin!"
